Word By Word Journeys provides a variety of paths for writers and poets to wake up the imagination, shake up the senses, foster curiosity and cultivate perceptual awareness. With the pen as the vehicle and words the fuel we will travel together down the road bordered by freedom and suggestion.
Created by Virginia Schultz, Kathryn Singey and Emily Wiechec in 2011, Word By Word Journeys is dedicated to bringing poetry into K-12 classrooms, as well as bringing poetic awareness into everyday life and enabling the poetic process. Using poetry exercises we experiment with poetic form and collaborative writing and practice using the creative senses. We host daylong weekend Poetry Expansion Labs and monthly Labettes for teachers and non-teachers whether seasoned or emerging poets. We are excited to be entering into our seventh year of spreading the joys of writing poetry. Our six years of work with Jack Collom will continue in his spirit of playfulness as we journey through the exciting process of associative thinking to weave our inner world onto paper and bring it forth to share.
