Daylong Saturday Poetry Expansion Labs and Poetry Expansion Labettes

CONTACT US if you'd like to plan a professional development or team building workshop with a fun-paced, poetry-packed experience.

The daylong Expansion Lab journey begins with pass-around poetry and then moves to directed individual writing.    Word By Word Journeys instructors, Virginia, Kathryn, and Emily, lead the writing exercises.  Lunch is on your own.  There is plenty of time to write during lunch, if you desire, and we provide suggested topics or forms.  After lunch, our extended time together allows for Writer's Workshop, revision and refinement.  The day concludes as we gather to hear "Tips for Reading Poetry Aloud" and then share our work.

The 2-hour Labettes focus on one or two writing exercises working both collaboratively and individually with time for sharing our work.  Perfect amount of time to expand your creativity!

Weekday Poetry Circles - on sabbatical!

We hold circles for an hour and a half and complete an average of two writing exercises.  These are usually smaller, more intimate groups than the daylong expansion labs.  Bringing a piece of writing to the session is encouraged.  Pass-around poetry is a frequently used method of writing, especially to warm-up the poetic senses.  Sharing our poetry together is always a great pleasure and brave gift.

These are community gatherings, yet can also be used to acquire teacher credit through BVSD or continuing education credit through the University of Colorado Boulder.  Please, contact us, if you are interested in seeing if our Poetry in the Classroom as Informal Assessment and Literacy Enhancement is currently open for registration or if you'd like us to provide professional development at your school.
